what a woman who could have joined the D.A.R. has learned about the socially-constructed, political notion of "race" by just paying attention and NOT keeping her mouth shut...

Jay Smooth on the Racial Crossroads
While I could care less about Asher Roth and his twitter toe-stubbing, I think Jay Smooth has some very crucial things to say in this video about where we are in the process of becoming ever so slightly less racist in this culture. Listen carefully, because Jay comes at you fast. And thanks to Angry Black-White Girl for the heads up on this one.

OMG!
I saw one of this guys videos about a year ago and I loved it. Somehow I never knew who he was or where I can find him. Thanks to you, now I do.
His analysis and breakdown is impeccable, and so relevant in my opinion. Yeah, he spoke the truth, and at the end of the day, that's only what I can hope people would do in this society.
Hey, RiPPa! Welcome to my house and please feel free to drop by any time. I agree with you totally about truth-telling. Which is one of the awesome things about blogging, huh? ;^)
Oh most definitely I'll be commenting on this blog. I've already added it to my features on the left side of my page. I hope more people come thru as a result and add to the conversations you have going. The beauty of blogging is being able to bring people together and that's one of the main reasons I'm doing what I do.
The funny thing is that I just researched Jay Smooth, and discovered that I used to listen to his station quite a bit in New York. I'm a hip hop junkie and his Underground Railroad show was one of the best in the city back then.
Damn I'm gettin old...
lol
Age ain't nuthin' but a number, RiPPa. You didn't know? ;^)
